The H+ Art Museum in Suzhou was designed by architect Tadao Ando and is his first completed and operational project in Jiangsu Province. Drawing inspiration from the winding spatial sequences of traditional Suzhou gardens, the museum presents a richly layered “three-dimensional garden” landscape.
At the northwest corner of the H+ Project's first floor, there is a VIP lounge partially enclosed by curved walls. Insdim Design Office, together with the Chinese solid wood furniture brand JIFANG, completed the design of this space. Insdim design office collaborated with the Chinese solid-wood furniture brand JIFANG to complete the interior design of this space.
A low curved screen divides the lounge into a relaxation area and a conversation area, while slender window openings allow the atmospheres on both sides to remain visually and emotionally connected. Pieces from JIFANG’s “Fu” series are arranged throughout the space according to their intended functions. The warmth of solid wood blends with the cool rawness of exposed concrete, creating a calm yet vibrant environment.
To extend Tadao Ando’s concept of the “three-dimensional garden,” the lounge adopts a folded, looping spatial layout that offers a sequence of changing views and perspectives. As visitors move through the interior, they can experience a garden-like atmosphere in which the scenery shifts with every step.
